Winter tire in the snow.jpg
Before the winter months set in, we recommend you schedule BMW service to get your car ready. If you don’t prepare your vehicle, it’ll be a long and arduous snowy season. Courtesy of the BMW of Silver Spring maintenance team, here are five BMW service tasks to prepare your car for winter.

Tires

When the weather gets colder, your tires will lose air pressure due to the temperature difference between the air inside and outside the tire. Thus, you’ll want to monitor your tires constantly for leaks or dropped pressure.

Oil

It’s always good to have clean oil in your vehicle. That’s especially important during the winter months, as it keeps your engine running at the right temperature. If it’s been a while since your last oil change, bring your vehicle to our service center.

Battery

You should make sure your battery has a full charge before winter starts, and get it inspected for any damage. Cold weather can be very damaging to your battery, so keep an eye out for any loss of voltage.

Antifreeze

True to its name, antifreeze prevents your vehicle’s fluids from freezing during the winter months. That’s why you need to check your coolant system to make sure you have the proper level of antifreeze in the tank. You should also flush out the system every so often to prevent clogs or stoppages.

Lights

With the colder winter months come longer nights; as such, you should check your car’s lights for safety reasons. Inspect all of your lights for broken bulbs so you can maintain good visibility.
